| Famous Trains The Crescent |
The Crescent is a passenger train operated by Amtrak in the eastern part of the United States.
It runs 1,377 miles (2,216 km) daily from Pennsylvania Station in New York City to New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal in New Orleans, Louisiana
The Crescent is the descendant of the Washington and Southwestern Vestibuled Limited, inaugurated in January, 1891, by the Richmond and Danville Railroad.
This Washington-Atlanta train was soon nicknamed the "Vestibule", with drawing room and stateroom sleeping cars, dining cars, smoking and library cars and observation cars.
They were gas lighted throughout and equipped with hot and cold running water.

The 20th Century Limited was an express passenger train operated by the New York Central Railroad from 1902 to 1967.
In the year of its last run, The New York Times said that it "...was known to railroad buffs for 65 years as the world's greatest train."
The train traveled between Grand Central Terminal in New York City and LaSalle Street Station in Chicago.

The Orange Blossom Special was a named passenger train service operated by the Seaboard Air Line Railway between New York City and Miami in the United States. Inaugurated on November 21, 1925, the last run in 1953.
The train went from New York via Philadelphia, Washington, Richmond, Raleigh, Columbia, Savannah, Jacksonville to Miami.
In 1938 the train was operated as a streamliner with air conditioning, hauled by the first diesel-electric locomotives on the east coast of the United States.

The Super Chief was one of the named passenger trains and the flagship of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.
It was often referred to as "The Train of the Stars" because of the many celebrities who traveled on the streamliner between Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California.
The extra-fare Super Chief-1 commenced its maiden run from Dearborn Station in Chicago on May 12, 1936.
